Class Description & Dress Code
Ballet
(recreational & competitive)
Ballet is an asset to all dance styles for its technical precision, lines, turning ability, foot articulation, and muscular strength. Whether the focus is on dancing ballet itself or using it to build the technical foundation for other dance forms ballet is an essential part of a dancers foundation. Four Season Dance Academy trains their dancers in R.A.D and Vaganova ballet technique to create well rounded and fully trained dancers that have strength, flexibility, poise and elegance.
Dress Code
Jr C./Int: Pink tights, black body suite, pink ballet slippers, hair pulled back in a bun
Sr.: Tights, black top or body suite, optional black shorts, hair pulled back in a bun
Recreational Classes: Tight fit clothing, hair pulled back from face, pink ballet slippers
Jazz
(recreational & competitive)
Jazz is an exciting and upbeat class full of rhythm, syncopation, passion and movement. This class explores individual expression and the development of personal style and technique. Strength, motion, passion and precision are what these classes are about.
Dress Code
All Classes: Tight fit clothing, hair pulled back from face, black jazz shoes or foot mittens. Dancers cannot dance in socks for safety reasons.
Modern
(recreational & competitive)
Modern dance, like ballet, is an essential part of a dancers foundation. Students will learn how to be grounded dancers as well as how to spiral, roll, resist, contract and lift. Technique will be both Martha Graham and Jose Limon inspired to create well rounded, educated dancers.
Dress Code
All Classes: Tight fit clothing, hair pulled back from face, foot mittens or bare feet. Dancers cannot dance in socks for safety reasons.
Contemporary
(recreational & competitive)
There is no solid definition of what contemporary dance is because it is always changing. Modern dance legend Martha Graham once said "contemporary dance is essentially dance taken out of the box and all rules removed". Every choreographer, teacher and individual dancer develops their own style of contemporary. Essentially contemporary dance is a means of expression and storytelling through movement.

Acro
(recreational & competitive)
Acro is a dance style that combines classical dance technique with acrobatic elements. Handstands, cartwheels, handsprings, shoulder stands and other acrobatic movements are mixed with dance skills, rhythm and timing to create an artistic element to a difficult sport.
Dress Code
All Classes: Tight fit clothing (preferably body suit), hair pulled back from face, foot mittens or bare feet. Dancers cannot dance in socks for safety reasons
Creative Movement & Munchkin
These classes are designed to bring the love of dance to children 2.5-4 years of age. Students will learn how to clap to music (rhythm), work as a team, basic technique such as pointing toes, skips etc. Percussion instruments will be used on occasion.
Dress Code
Fun and colourful dance clothing. Cloths must be tight fitted and students may dance in either bare feet or ballet slippers.
